Teaching
Marcia has served in many educational roles over the past ten years in both the Somatic Counseling and Buddhist-Inspired Psychology Graduate programs at Naropa University as Adjunct Faculty, Visiting Instructor, Guest Lecturer, Clinical Support Professional and Master’s Paper Reader.
During this time, she has developed the curriculum for a number of courses, including most recently, Specialized Approaches in Body Psychotherapy, a first year course which follows the scope and learning pathway offered in her recently published book, Movement and Identity: Multiculturalism, Somatic Awareness, and Embodied Code-Switching®.
Marcia particularly enjoys providing mentorship and support to third year students as they research and write their final Master’s Paper. This ongoing partnership with students encompasses a one year process of holding initial conceptual discussions on students’ research topic, organization and conceptualization of the paper, and providing feedback on students’ writing style, flow and light editing.

Marcia welcomes opportunities to teach classes and intensives for educational institutions interested in integrating the areas of somatic counseling, cultural embodiment, identity, social justice, trauma, and power and privilege into their curricula and programs.
