Clinical Supervision and Consulting

Marcia provides clinical supervision and consultation to Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) therapists seeking to gain licensure through the state of Colorado, as well as to graduate students in the Somatic Counseling Program at Naropa University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Graduate Program (Boulder, Colorado). She identifies herself as a Somatic Counselor/Body Psychotherapist with a focus on Client-Centered therapy, with specialized training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy® Trauma therapy, Indigenous psychology, as well as her own therapeutic practice, Embodied Code-Switching®.

As a clinical supervisor or consultant, Marcia uses a collaborative model that supports supervisees and consultees in strengthening the skills and talents they already have while also challenging them to develop their clinical skills and theoretical rationale in new ways. A large part of her practice is the commitment she holds to integrating social justice, intercultural perspectives, and cultural embodiment into her work as a supervisor, consultant, and teacher, which can be explored in her book Movement and Identity: Multiculturalism, Somatic Awareness, and Embodied Code-Switching®.

Marcia considers herself a guide for supervisees and consultees as they discover their own unique non-verbal language and awareness of sensation and movement as a means of communication and psychological insight. She values the importance of integrating client-designated culturally relevant healing methods into the therapeutic process, which can involve including communities and other sources of support into a holistic healing process.

Marcia’s professional credentials include:

“I have had the honor and privilege to be supervised and learn from such a grounded, humble, warm, and kind person like Marcia. She has been a staple in supporting and helping me develop my private practice and without her guidance, I would not have the confidence that I have today. I appreciate her style of supervision and how it is a collaborative space where we can deepen and cultivate power together. I often feel perhaps an hour is not enough with her and could spend hours going back and forth with her. As I was preparing to launch my private practice, I envisioned Marcia as my supervisor as I could not think of anyone better than her to accompany me in the process. I credit her greatly for the clinician I am today and am excited to see the work we cultivate together.”
